Twerkshop Sessions were initiated by Nimia Gracious together with Lateena Plummer and Romancio Cayol as a community practice to reclaim the art of twerking in the western context. During the period January till June 2023 many Twerkshop sessions were made possible in collaboration with experi_theater, MigrArt, Gessnerallee and Tanzhaus Zürich. Since January 2024 we officially hold weekly sessions at Tanzhaus Zürich.

As a precursor for our Co-Production with Tanzhaus in April 2024 we are holding space together Our research is practice based and centers the QTBIPOC* community and the knowledge of our ancestors. We are tracing the histories of those before us through the dance, which is a vessel of conserved knowledge.
The learning sessions have been exclusively directed to FLINTA* individuals in order to foster a safer, queer feminist, intersectional learning environment, allowing us to connect with our body in an intimate way without disturbance.
We cannot isolate the dance from the people, the Twerkshops are connected to a social movement. In the future we hope to further mobilise interested participants engaging in our cultural offer addressed to them. Holding public moments in form of talks and performances and exchange with artists/ dancers/ dance academic/researchers around the world.
